We all love going to the movies – the big comfy seats, booming sound, and utter darkness – too bad we actually have to leave the house to get there!
One man begged his wife for years to let him try and build a home theater in their basement, but she always feared that he would destroy the entire house. But one day she relented… and the results are really something.
As with most things, there were modest beginnings.
Here’s what a 55″ TV looks in the space for scale.
Once the frame was complete, it was time to add some drywall.
That looks beautiful.
This is going to be pretty amazing.
Next, he had to apply a second coat.
Once the drywall was sanded, he added a coat of black paint where the screen was going to go. Smart!
Sub-woofers were installed in the lower left and right hand corners.
Things were really coming along. The upper cabinets can be used for storing DVDs or books.
But the best use would be bookshelf speakers.
Next it was time to install the big screen.
Then the speakers were put in place.
A projector was installed overhead on the ceiling.
The wires were all run through a hole in the ceiling, which his wife wasn’t too happy about.
Yes, that is a bar being built in the background.
The nearly finished product!
The view from the bar. Looks pretty cozy!
There was room to the side for desks and a play area.
The view from the screen.
Finally, it’s showtime!
Imagine how satisfying it must have been after all that hard work and years of dreaming. Imagine watching movies in this. Incredible!
