Goodall had seen the chimp at her worst, and now she had the privilege of seeing her healthy. The best chapter of the ape’s life was about to begin. However, before the chimp was released, she shocked her rescuers when she turned around and made an incredible gesture.
Dame Jane Goodall is a British expert in anthropology and primatology. In fact, she’s perhaps the most renowned chimpanzee expert in the world. Goodall has dedicated her long career to conservation, and as a result of her good deeds she carries the title UN Messenger of Peace.
Among her many achievements, Goodall is perhaps most famous for her investigation of chimpanzees’ social interactions over the course of half a century. She is also a member of the Nonhuman Rights Project and has founded two organizations. They are the Roots & Shoots environmental movement and the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) conservation group.
